Fernando Alonso Secures Team Sponsorship for 2015

According to reports from the Spanish newspaper ABC, Fernando Alonso has secured a five year endorsement deal with various sponsors for 2015-2019.

After much speculation that Alonso would purchase the now defunct Euskaltel-Euskadi cycling team in order to take advantage of the team’s WorldTour license status, it’s reported that the popular F1 driver has successfully negotiated with investors in India, Singapore and Abu Dhabi, to include Google and Fly Emirates, to create a new team from the "ground up".

Currently, the new initiative is going under the acronym – ‘FACT’ – Fernando Alonso Cycling Team.

Additionally, the project is reported to be taking a zero tolerance stance on the issue of "doping". Indeed, Alonso has stated that he will not hired any soigneur, doctor, directeur sportif or rider who has been involved in any previous doping cases. To many, this suggests the elimination of  Alberto Contador from any consideration.

According to sources, the project has completed the initial paperwork for with the UCI for the 2015 season.
