BMC Adds Disc Brakes to Teammachine SLR01 DISC

Adherents to the disc brake movement will rejoice after hearing BMC has decided to equip its popular Teammachine SLR01 road bike with the latest hydraulic disc brake offerings from Shimano, along with some other impressive additions.

Capitalizing on the success of its caliper brake sibling, the Teammachine SLR01 DISC is available in Dura Ace Di2, Ultegra Di2 or mechanical Ultegra equipped models, which feature either Shimano’s SM-RT900 or SM-RT800 Ice Tech Freeza flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes, along with front and rear 12mm thru-axles and a proprietary sandwich style derailleur hanger, which is something typically found only on mountain bikes.

In addition to hydraulic disc brakes, BMC has developed a new stem and special steerer tube that allows the hydraulic hoses to be routed directly into the frame, along with electronic shifting integration that now routes cabling inside a single port that’s located at the top of the downtube.

Despite the need to increase carbon lay-up in keys areas along the frame in order to compensate for the additional load disc brakes create, BMC says extensive in-house computer modeling enabled them to keep the frame’s weight within 28g of its caliper brake counterpart.

The Teammachine SLR01 DISC is available in three models, the Team, One and Two, which in addition to the aforementioned groupsets come equipped with either DT Swiss’ PRC 1100 DICUT db 35 Carbon, PRC 1400 SPLINE db 35 Carbon or PR 1600 SPLINE db 23 wheels respectively.

BMC does not publish pricing for the USA, which is left to authorized dealers to disclose.
