Cycling the Swiss Alps – Col de la Croix, Col du Pillon, Col des Mosses

from The Col Collective

After exploring the sensational Col du Sanetsch earlier in the season with Alain Rumpf from Grand Tours Project, Alain mentioned we’d be welcome back anytime. Well, like a carrot dangled tantalisingly in front of a rabbit naturally that was an offer we simply could not pass up, especially with peaks as glorious as those found in the Swiss Alps! Today we’re venturing into the Vaud Alps for a classic loop starting at the UCI World Cycling Centre in Aigle before tackling the triple bill of the Col de la Croix, Col du Pillon and Col des Mosses.

Approximately 100km in length with close to 2,500m elevation gain, the prospect of 3,000m high glaciers, waterfalls and regional cheese sounded like the perfect recipe for a truly exceptional day on the bike!

  • Start: Aigle
  • Distance: 108km
  • Highest point: 1,778m
  • Elevation gain: 2,458m
  • Max gradient: 14%
