Easton and RaceFace have partnered to launch a new power meter called CINCH, which features an axle-based design that works with Easton’s current EC90 SL road crankset or RaceFace’s mountain bike Next R crankset.

According to Easton, the new CINCH power meter is designed for both road and cyclocross, allowing cyclists the versatility of changing between 1x to a 2x setups.

Unlike other power meter designs however, the CINCH doesn’t rely upon left and right leg power output, rather it measures torque readings from across the axle through the non-drive drive side, and in turn doubles the figure provided from the rider’s left leg power output.

Easton says its power meter only adds 65g to the weight of the crankset, while the system is safely housed inside the bottom bracket axle, with easy access to the rechargeable battery via a USB port.

Furthermore, the CINCH uses both ANT+ and Bluetooth wireless protocols, making it compatible with virtually any smartphone or cycling computer. Moreover, Easton has created an app that allows easy monitoring of the battery level, as well as calibrating and installing updates.

The price of the CINCH is $599.99. However, if you don’t already have an EC90 SL crankset, you’ll need to purchase one for an additional $949.99.
