Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing) is the new Eneco Tour leader after winning today’s Individual Time Trial (ITT), setting the fastest time of 10:48 along the 9.6 kilometer course around Breda.

Dennis set his winning time early on in today’s ITT, after beating the day’s previous benchmark set by Ramunas Navardauskas (Cannondale).

World champion Vasil Kiryienka (Team Sky) certainly didn’t improve on the Australian’s time after appearing on the starter’s podium 45 seconds late.

Local favorite Tom Dumoulin received a lot of cheers on his quest to beat Dennis’ time, but the time trial specialist came up short by 20 seconds.

Dumoulin’s compatriot Jos van Eden (LottoNL-Jumbo) fared much better during his run, as last year’s time trial winner in Hoogerheide took second place with a time of 10:53.

Movistar’s Jasha Sütterlin was a surprising third at 11:02, while world champion Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) finished eight with a time of 11:05.

Meanwhile, pre-race favorite Tony Martin fell short today as well, after conceding 20 seconds to Dennis and failing to feature in the top-ten.

By winning today’s ITT, Dennis also took over the leader’s jersey from Dylan Groenewegen (Lotto-Soudal), who now leads Van Eden by five seconds, followed by Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) in third place at 13 seconds back.
