New British Brand “AERA” Offers Range of Carbon Wheelsets and Forks

A new British brand under the name AERA has launched, offering a range of carbon wheelsets and forks aimed at roadies and gravel grinders alike.

The wheels are available in depths of 36mm, 46mm and 56mm, along with a choice of hubs from Hope, Tune or Chris King, as well as Son Schmidt’s dynamo front hub.

All of the wheels are disc brake specific, which are compatible with 100x12mm and 142x12mm front and rear thru-axles. Also, depending upon the application, customers can choose between either 24 or 28 spoke lacing.

In the case of the 36mm and 46mm rims, the internal width is 21.1mm, while the 56mm is considerably wider at 22.9mm, which AERA says can accommodate tires ranging from 25mm to 50mm. Furthermore, their tubeless ready design can also be converted to using traditional inner tubes.

Additionally, according to AERA’s configurator, customers can mix and match front and rear wheel sizes in order to suit their riding needs.

Prices for the wheelsets range from £1,570 to £2,160, with pricing for the US market upon request.

To compliment their wheelsets, AERA has also launched a range of three new forks, designed to accommodate both hydraulic disc brakes, as well as traditional caliper brakes.

The range consists of the All Road, Road Disc and Road Caliper.

The All Road comprises an all-carbon design that can accommodate wheels up to 700 x 38mm, or 650b x 40mm, which features internal brake hose routing that’s compatible with Shimano’s 12mm E-thru axles and flat mount brakes. It’s also compatible with various dynamo lighting systems.

Both the Road Disc and Road Caliper feature an all-carbon design as well, which can provide clearance for 700x32mm wheels without mudguards, or 700x28mm when used in conjunction with mudguards, with pricing starting at £360.

“ÆRA was inspired by our own bike rides, adventures and tours on roads and gravel tracks. It’s this insatiable appetite for adventure that led to our development of these amazing new wheels and components”, says the company’s founder David Clow.

“All of our products have been designed to offer the perfect balance of performance, durability and reliability with an elegant aesthetic. The very essence of adventure is the unknown, and this means being prepared for anything along the way. We place extraordinary emphasis on reliability and this means we make every effort to design our wheels and components to be as tough as possible.”
