POC Launches “Do” Half-Blade Sunglasses

The New Do Half Blade

The 2015 Giro d’Italia will provide the ideal backdrop for the release of POC’s latest eyewear for cyclists, the Do Half Blade. Based on POC’s successful Do Blade, the Half Blade represents a positive evolution for cyclists with new features and design providing improved vision and fit, replaceable Zeiss lenses and all weather performance.

The Do Half Blade incorporates lenses developed jointly with Zeiss, which have been optimized for road cycling by increasing contrast to give riders the best chance to spot surface irregularities. A further improvement is that each lens will incorporate anti-fog and water ripple treatments, which will maintain visibility whatever the conditions.

POC always seeks to provide the right answers to difficult questions and the Do Half Blade, which is supplied with a spare lens, is no exception as it includes a simple and quick lens replacement system.

Commenting on the new Do Half Blade, Oscar Huss, Head of Product Development at POC, says:

“The release of the Do Half Blade is really important to us as it has given us the opportunity to evolve and improve our eyewear for cyclists. We really wanted to give a rider the best feel and vision possible as an increased field of vision improves the ride experience and bike safety. To meet this challenge a critical new feature which came out of our research and testing is the re-designed and reduced frame which enhances lower and peripheral vision”.

The Do Half Blade is injected with grilamid which maintains its low weight and improves durability as fewer moving parts are needed. With an adjustable nose piece a rider is also able to find the perfect fit.

POC is the official helmet and eyewear supplier of Cannondale-Garmin Pro Cycling Team. Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports and Cannondale-Garmin Pro Cycling added:

– “We are excited to use the Do Half Blade for the first time in the 2015 Giro. The Peloton is an intense and competitive environment and giving our riders improved lower and peripheral vision, in all weather, it’s a huge advantage, enabling them to ride faster and safer”.

The Do Half Blade will be available to selected retailers in June 2015.
