“Why We Cycle”: Cycling the Famed Pamir Highway

Tristan Bogaard grew up in the small town of Bergen in the Netherlands, where traveling by bike is the norm.

In 2014, he embarked upon his first long distance cycling trek from New York to Los Angeles.

Inspired by his journey, he proceeded to traverse all of Europe on two wheels in a search of the most impressive, dramatic and awe-inspiring landscapes.

Last summer, Bogaard and his partner Belén, cycled across Kyrgyzstan, reaching the famed Pamir Highway during their last leg.

After meeting more than 60 cyclists along the way, Bogaard compiled the following video as an introspective as to “Why We Cycle”.
