2014 Giro de Rosa Unveiled
The 25th edition of the Giro Rosa has been presented yesterday in Milan, where the Government of Regione Lombardia has its seat.
The most important international women’s stage race is ready to start on July 4th, with many news and surprises. Among them the Giro Rosa Trophy, which will be won by the best rider of the tour on July 13th, as well as the official Giro Rosa song “Aspettando il Giro Rosa” (Waiting the Giro Rosa) by Jimmy Mazzola.
The conference was opened by the Giro’s Director Giuseppe Rivolta, who thanked and welcomed all the guests: among them, the Italian rider Elisa Longo Borghini and the Dutch champion Marianne Vos.
“I’m very happy to be here today. For me, the Giro is a very important race. This year’s stages are difficult, still fascinating, especially as far as the mountain stages are concerned, as they are the ones I prefer. But every stage is important if you want to take the win! I won the Giro in 2011 and 2012, so once again this year I’ll try to give my best!” stated Marianne Vos.
“I really hope I’ll take part in the Giro this year. All the best riders will be there, so the Giro will be even more important for me! I’m in a good shape and I’ll just give my best” echoed Elisa Longo Borgini, White Jersey in 2012
At the conference there were also Antonio Rossi, Councillor for Sport of Regione Lombardia, the CONI President of Regione Lombardia Committee Pierluigi Marzorati, the FCI President Renato Di Rocco and the Italian National Women’s Team Edoardi Salvoldi.

Coveted and beautiful. The best riders in the world are already longing for the five 2014 Giro Rosa jerseys made by Dama knitwear factory.
From 4th to 13th July the 2014 Giro Rosa queen, Mara Abbott, and all the riders who will be aiming to the General Classification will try to get the Pink Jersey, which is sponsored by Derma Fresh. The many young riders, among those Francesca Cauz, Dalia Muccioli and Pauline Ferrand Prevot, will compete for the White Jersey featuring the Saugella brand. The Italians are already dreaming of crossing the line wearing the Blue Jersey Dama, which is given to the best Italian rider. On the climbs of the Giro, the riders will give their best to try and seize the Green Jersey BIM, which will be worn by the best climber. And the best sprinter of the race will get the Cyclamen Jersey, which is sponsored by SMP.
Also, the Marina Romoli Onlus logo will be printed on every jersey of the 2014 Giro Rosa (www.marinaromolionlus.org).
From 1st June 2010, the day of the terrible accident that tragically changed Marina’s life, the most important stage race in women’s cycling has been supporting the non-profit organization named after the young Italian rider. The Marina Romoli Onlus helps all those who are under the age of 30 and have had some serious accident while practicing competitive cycling. It also supports the research to develop a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Marina’s heart will be both on the “heart” of the best riders of the race as well as on the staff jerseys. The Giro Rosa is pride to spread Marina’s message around Italy and abroad, thanks to the media covering the event.
“Special thanks go to all the prestigious companies that support the 2014 Giro Rosa. We will pay them back with our commitment and professionalism”, said Giuseppe Rivolta, the Giro’s Race Director.
