Win Chris Froome’s Tour de France 2012 bike
Keen cyclists can enjoy the summer with a very special bike – Chris Froome’s Pinarello Dogma 2 from the 2012 Tour de France.
The iconic bike is being auctioned by a cycling enthusiastic to raise money for four charities that are close to her heart. Jackie Fraser, from Edinburgh, won the £10,000 bike in a competition last year but found it is too big for her.
The money raised from the auction will be split between Action for Children, St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Carers UK and Cerebra.
“This isn’t just some look-a-likey, this is the real deal! Scratches, wear marks, name badges, Team Sky mechanic modifications and all. As you’d expect for an official bike that’s come straight out of the team’s service course, the bike has been tidied up so the bar tape, chain rings, chain and brake pads have all been replaced.”
Jackie said: “Fancy turning up to the summer club run on Chris Froome’s number two bike or perhaps you want to have a proper piece of modern art on the wall? Whichever it is here is your chance to buy Chris Froome’s bike from 2012, the year he assisted Sir Bradley Wiggins to be the first British winner of the Tour de France.
The 56cm carbon fiber bike, which features programmable electronic gears and a custom elliptical front chain ring unique to Chris Froome, has some small scratches on the frame but is otherwise in excellent condition.
Fundraising manager at Action for Children, Grant McFarlane, said: “This is such a fantastic opportunity to own this incredible bike and raise funds to help us continue to support vulnerable children across the UK. The three other charities close to Jackie’s heart will benefit too.”
As well as having been fitted with a new chain, the 7kg bike includes Shimano Dura-Ace calipers and prototype carbon fibre wheels, Veloflex tyres, Pro Vibe carbon fibre handlebars and headset and Fi’z:k Antares carbon fibre saddle.
The auction runs from 8pm Thursday 12 June to Friday 20 June. Visit ebay.co.uk and search ‘Chris Froome’s 2012 Tour de France Pinarello Dogma’ for your chance to win.
