According to the Belgian newspaper, Het Laatste Nieuws, cycling icon Eddy Merckx has been hospitalized after suffering from heart problems.
The retired Belgian cyclist is reported to have experienced a sudden drop in blood pressure – causing him to collapsed while at home last weekend.
Merckx’s friend, Paul Van Himst, told the press that the situation was “not so serious” and that everything was under control.
Merckx was fitted with a pace maker in March of last year to try and correct cardiac arrhythmia – a problem he’s suffered with throughout his career.
