The Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team has been strengthened with the signing of Evelyn Stevens for the next two seasons until 2016. The 31-year-old American recently won the Boels Rental Holland Ladies Tour and has been ranked among the best on the women’s cycling circuit for some years already. After a career on Wall Street, Stevens decided to focus all her efforts on cycling in 2009 and her sporting achievements have proven she made a wise decision. The talented cyclist from Boulder, Colorado won the world title in the team time trial with Specialized-Lululemon and was the overall winner in the Thüringen Rundfahrt, the Route de France, the Giro del Trentino and, most recently of course, the Ladies Tour. She is also the 2012 winner of the cycling classic La Flèche Wallone Féminine and came in third overall in the Giro Rosa, the women’s version of the Giro d’Italia.
Chantal Blaak (24) from Zuidland was also recently contracted until 2016, the same agreement length the team has with time trial world champion Ellen van Dijk, world cup winner Lizzie Armitstead and team manager Danny Stam. Stam believes that his latest asset has made his team even more complete for the coming seasons.
"Evelyn Stevens is a cyclist who can help us achieve our ambitions in becoming world champion in the Team Time Trial, but above all, she is a cyclist who adds a new dimension to our current team.
"Although we were at times dominant in the cycling classics – it’s no surprise we won the Tour of Drenthe, the Tour of Flanders and were individual winner in the World Cup – we felt we could still strengthen our position on hilly terrain and in stage races. Stevens is a cyclist who has proven that she feels comfortable in the hills and mountains, she makes our team even more complete."
