Birthday to François Mahé, who was born on this day in 1930.
The French rider is best known for wearing the yellow jersey for one day during the 1953 Tour de France, where he finished in the top ten. He also won stage 21A in the 1954 Tour, as well as a top ten finish in the 1955 race and finished 5th overall in the 1959 race also.
In addition, Mahé won stages 2 and 14 in the 1961 Vuelta a Espana, along with the Grand Prix de cannes in 1963. He also won several other stages in the Paris-Nice Classic, Tour de Luxembourg, Criterium du Dauphine Libere, GP Quest-France and Tour of Flanders – throughout the 1950’s.
