Rapha announced this week, that they have once again partnered with the Italian brand, Giro, to produce a new cyclocross shoe for this season.
Like it’s predecessors, the new "Cross Shoe", will feature Easton’s successful EC90 carbon outer sole.
This time, Rapha has chosen to pay tribute to Belgium, as the motherland of cyclocross, with a clever "beer-and-frites" container.
The container is produced by ECO Products, the same sponsor of US national ’cross champion Jeremy Powers, which features shaped holders for beer and frites.
In addition, an oversized ‘wet bag’ is included, which can be used for either carrying gear or perhaps a changing mat.
The new shoe was designed with the rigors of cyclocross in mind. Indeed, a synthetic leather upper, dual-compound nylon treads on the sole, along with carbon rubberized heel and toe-caps and aggressive cleats – ares some of the features that punctuate the shoe.
However, no Rapha product would be complete without the brand’s signature styling. In which case, the blue and pink touches of Rapha’s Super Cross, are woven into the shoe’s upper.
Rapha claims the Cross Shoe weighs in at 375g, and it will be available in sizes 39-48 in November for $350.
