World Champion Marianne Vos (Rabo-Liv) won this year’s inaugural Sparkassen Giro today.
The 124 kilometer circuit race, featured eight laps of a 15.5 kilometer course in Bochum, Germany, as round six of the 2014 UCI World Cup series.
Vos took the victory in a bunch sprint, beating Giorgia Bronzini (Wiggle Honda) and Lotta Lepistö (Bigla Cycling Team), who finished in second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, Shelly Olds (Ale Cipollini) was the top American, who finished 10th in place with the same time.
Lizzie Armistead (Boels Dolmans), who won Sunday’s road race at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, remains the leader in the World Cup series.
