Cameron Meyer claimed stage 2 in this year’s s Tour de Suisse today, after beating Philip Deignan and Lawrence Warbasse in a three-up sprint.
Today’s hilly 180 kilometer stage took the peloton from Bellinzona to Sarnen.
At one point, Meyer found himself fighting back to the lead group after experiencing a mechanical problem in the waning moments of today’s stage.
“It was hard,” said Meyer. “But I did a good descent, got back and yeah, was able to win the sprint. I’m very happy.”
Meanwhile, Tony Martin retained the overall race by six seconds over Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Shimano), with Rohan Dennis (Garmin-Sharp) in third at 13 seconds back.
