Eric Young sprinted to victory in stage 5 of this year’s Tour of Utah on today, while defending champion Tom Danielson protected his lead in the overall standings.
The peloton brought back a breakaway shortly after riders hit a section of dirt roads with less than 10 miles left. Young’s Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies team positioned him well in the run-out, and he finished ahead of SmartStop’s Jure Kocjan and UnitedHealthcare’s Kiel Reijnen.
