Jannie Salcedo Zambrano won the gold medal in the women’s scratch race during round 2 of this year’s UCI Track World Cup today at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London.
The Colombian rider won the race in a sprint ahead of American Lauren Stephens, who claimed the silver medal, while Poland’s Katarzyna Pawlowska, finished one lap down, to take the bronze.
Salcedo Zambrano and Stephens lapped the field partway through the scratch race,to battle it out for the gold and silver medals.
Meanwhile, officials neutralized the race, after a crash so that medical staff could treat an injured rider.
The race resumed with five laps to go.
