North American Street Track Racing Starts March 22 in Delray Beach, Florida
Eleven high-speed cycling events in some of North America’s most compelling communities will make up the USA CRITS Series. which will include new stops in Tampa, Florida at the Gasparilla Criterium, Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic, and Vancouver, British Columbia for the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix.
Beloved races in 2013 that will return to the Series include the kick-off race at the Delray Beach Twilight Criterium, Novant Health Invitational Criterium (formerly Presbyterian Hospital Invitational Criterium), Athens Twilight Criterium, Glencoe Grand Prix, Iron Hill Twilight Criterium, Andersen/Banducci Twilight Criterium and the Chris Thater Memorial Races, which will all boil down to the 2014 USA CRITS Finals in St. Louis at the 23rd Annual Gateway Cup!
In addition to separate cash purses awarded at each event, men and women riders in the USA CRITS Series accrue points toward individual and team classifications. The Series’ points leaders will wear the Orange Jersey of the overall leader following each race, with the final winners crowned in St. Louis.
Now in its eighth year, the USA CRITS Championship Series has brought the thrill of bike racing to some of North America’s most flourishing downtown districts. It’s a unique opportunity to get a close look at both world and national champion-level athletes, while they navigate the intricacies of a closed circuit course at high speeds right in the heart of a vital urban setting.
