Rein Taaramäe (Astana) claimed the overall victory in this year’s Arctic Race of Norway today, while Silvan Dillier (BMC Racing Team) won the fourth and final stage.
Dillier proceeded to out-power Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha) during the waning moments of today’s race to eke out a final stage victory, while Taaramäe finished in third spot, thus wresting the leader’s jersey from BMC’s Ben Hermans, who failed to muster even a top 10 finish in today’s race.
Indeed, Hermans assumed the overall lead yesterday after winning stage 3, could only managed an eighteenth place finish in today’s 165 kilometer stage around Narvik.
Meanwhile, Dillier and Zakarin rounded out the final podium at 8 seconds and 31 seconds back respectively.
