Bianchi has updated its Specialissima, giving its top-tier, lightweight road bike disc brakes and full cable integration for 2021.
Additionally, Bianchi has also improved the Specialissima’s aerodynamic signature by adopting new tube profiles borrowed from its Oltre aero bike, along with the Italian brand’s Countervail anti-vibration carbon lay-up technology, while cable integration is provided thanks to new top and bottom oversized 1.5″ headset bearings that run all cabling through the handlebar into the frame. There’s also a new integrated seatpost design.
“We are proud to introduce our latest Specialissima road racing machine – totally re-engineered by us with the all-rounder in mind. The new carbon disc frame weights just 750g (painted, size 55), but it’s also superbly stiff, providing excellent transfer of that power to the road. The new Specialissima is designed for UCI WorldTour professionals to be a complete racing bike. Whether it is to fly up the climbs or to dominate on the flat, the new Specialissima is the solution,” says Bianchi.
Not surprisingly, tire clearance has also been increased, which can now accommodate rubber up to 28mm.
The updated Specialissima will be available with a number of groupsets such as Campagnolo Super Record EPS, Shimano Dura-Ace and Ultegra Di2 and SRAM Red eTap AXS, as well as the mechanical version of Ultegra. There’s also a frameset-only option, with seven sizes available that range from 47 to 61.
For the Bianchi purist, the Specialissima will be offered in the brand’s time-honored celeste green, along with black and a new greenish-blue colorway.
The Specialissima can also be customized thanks to Bianchi’s new Color Configurator, which allows customers to select from different combinations to create their own unique frame.
Bianchi has also created a “Signature Collection” for those who want even more individuality, allowing them to choose from five different colorways for the frame and graphics, wherein all frames are hand-painted in Italy by Bianchi’s expert technicians with iridescent and holographic elements.
