BMC Redfines the E-Road Bike Segment with New Teammachine 01 AMP

Building heavily upon its flagship Teammachine SLR, BMC is redefining the e-road bike segment with the launch of its new Teammachine 01 AMP, which features TQ’s super-compact, mid-mounted electric motor that provides up to 200W of assistance.

“Adding weight for more power can backfire if it throws off the balance between power and overall bike weight. More weight means more effort on climbs or more motor support. But if an e-bike gets so heavy that the extra power can’t make up for it, the advantage of the motor starts to disappear. The best riding experience comes from a carefully tuned harmony of power and weight. That’s why we developed a lightweight, performance e-bike. We deliver what creates real speed, efficiency, and a more enjoyable ride. Did we mention it’s in a package that makes it hard to even spot the hidden power?” says the Swiss brand.

According to BMC, the onboard 290Wh battery can cover up to roughly 81 miles (130 kilometers) on a single charge when in Eco mode, while an optional 160Wh range extender can be added for even further travel.

Other features that punctuate the Teammachuine 01 AMP include an AeroShape seatpost, BMC’s ICS Carbon Evo integrated cockpit and an AeroCore bottle cage. Moreover, there’s also a built-in OLED color display for monitoring speed and range, as well as a 20-lumen rear light with a 180-degree beam pattern for safety.

Ride quality was also an important consideration when designing the Teammachine 01 AMP, which can accommodate tires up to a hefty 34mm.

The Teammachine 01 AMP is offered in three guises, with groupsets that span a Shimano 105 Di2 drivetrain for $7,999.00, to $9,499.00 for an Ultegra Di2-equipped model, to the range-topping bike that’s fitted with Dura Ace Di2 for $13,499.00.
