Boyd is debuting its latest set of hoops dubbed the Podium 36 Road Disc SL, targeting an ideal balance between aerodynamics and lightweight that tip the scales at a feathery 1130 grams, making them quite possibility the best choice for enthusiasts who are looking for the Swiss Army Knife of wheelsets.
“The Podium 36 Road Disc SL wheels deliver a balanced ride feel and confident handling, resulting in a lightweight performance wheelset that’s built for all-around road riding,” says Boyd.
Hand-built entirely at Boyd’s facility in South Carolina, the Podium 36 Road Disc SL features a 36mm “hooked” rim that’s culled from a mix of aerospace-grade T1000 and high-modulus carbon fiber, while things spin on the brand’s own Grade 54 straight-pull ratchet hubs that are fitted with Enduro ABEC-5 bearings laced with Pillar Wing 20 spokes and Alpina ABT locking alloy nipples.
The result is a wheelset that exceeds 110 joules of impact resistance, more than two-and-a-half times stronger than the UCI minimum requirement.
The Podium 36 Road Disc SL sells for $2,100, which comes with pre-installed with tubeless tape and valves.
