Brompton Celebrates 50th Anniversary with 12-Speed C Line

To celebrate its 50th Anniversary, Brompton has added 12-speeds to its range of C Line folding bikes.

The C Line is the British brand’s original model that debuted back in 1975 by founder Andrew Ritchie. The newly expanded range now includes 2-speed, 6-speed and 12-speed options, with the latter being offered in three exclusive colors: Flamingo Pink, Amethyst Lacquer and Turkish Green.

The system combines a 3-speed Sturmy Archer hub gear mated to a 4-speed cassette that’s actuated by Brompton’s own derailleur.

Brompton says this hybrid drivetrain gives its bikes the widest gear range available on its folding bikes at 402%, a 60% increase over its 2-speed system.

“Our C Line has been the catalyst and inspiration for Brompton’s entire range. Sparking imagination, innovation, and the need to always improve. Today, it brings the same joy it always has, but better than ever,” says Brompton.

The C Line models range in price from $1,550 to $2,300 depending on drivetrain speeds. There is also a limited edition Shantell Martin 2-speed model that retails for $1,950.
