Canyon has unveiled its latest track bike dubbed the Speedmax CFR Track, touting it as the “fastest ever bike” thanks to a narrower aerodynamic signature and a new interchangeable cockpit that eliminates the need for complete bike swaps between track disciplines.
Developed in collaboration with USA Cycling’s Chloe Dygert, the Speedmax CFR Track also comes fitted with Canyon’s new disc wheelset that was designed in partnership with Swiss Side, utilizing a wider external rim profile of 26.5mm that’s optimized for 25mm clincher tires instead of a classic tubular set-up.
“Velodrome racing is a pursuit of perfection, every second counts, every watt counts, and our collaboration with professional track cyclists was crucial to achieving the Speedmax CFR Track. We asked, what kind of bike do you need to win races? Their expertise and feedback have shaped the Speedmax CFR Track into the exceptional machine you see today. The Canyon Speedmax has won five Triathlon World Championship titles, so this was a good starting point, but the Speedmax CFR Track is far from a mere rebadged triathlon bike, we went back to the drawing board and collaborated extensively with our aerodynamics partners, Swiss Side, to ensure this bike was sculpted for supreme aero efficiency at the exceptionally high speeds and unique conditions of the velodrome,” boasts Canyon.
In addition to the frame’s narrow silhouette, another stand-out aspect of the new Speedmax CFR Track is the bike’s fork, which features exceptionally, deep legs, combined with a very narrow overall width, as evidenced by the custom 40mm-wide axle, reducing the width of the front end of the bike significantly, especially when compared to the traditional 100mm spacing found on most track bikes.
Elsewhere, the Speedmax CFR Track is equipped with SRM’s Origin Track power meter that features spider-integrated sensors for accurate wattage readings and a Kappstein Pro Line Elite chainring, along with the German brand’s own fully adjustable carbon Pro Extension cockpit system.
Good news, the new Speedmax CFR Track isn’t just available to pro riders and teams, but it will set customers back a hefty €20,000 ( about $22,00).
