Castelli’s new Aero 8S jersey is all about cheating the wind, achieving its aerodynamic signature courtesy of cutting-edge fabric and seams that have been optimized via extensive CFD (computational fluid dynamics).
“In the world of performance cycling, we seek out more watts and more speed from our equipment. Dressing for speed is one of the best ways to get faster since 80% of the drag on a cyclist comes from the body. Drawing on more than a decade of innovation and knowledge in making professional riders faster, the Aero Race 8S Jersey is the result of using the most modern methods and fabrics to create the fastest jersey we’ve ever made,” boasts Castelli.
The Aero SS gets its aerodynamic advantage from ribbed fabric that’s used throughout the sleeves and shoulders to reduce as much drag as possible.
To wit, the S stands for “speed.” The sleeve construction uses CFD engineering for optimal seam placement. The engineered ribbed shoulder fabric has been designed specifically for the greatest aerodynamic advantage at race speeds, with a CdA savings of up to 6% over previous aero jerseys. The rest of the jersey is designed for maximum comfort. The body fabric is smooth and stretchy, allowing for a perfect fit, and it feels great against the skin. The elastic at the waist keeps the jersey in place while supporting the three back pockets when they are loaded. The Aero Race 8S Jersey is the ultimate piece of equipment to help you turn your watts into speed,” says the Italian brand.
Other features that punctuate the jersey are laser-cut sleeves, smooth, lightweight fabric for the main body, three rear cargo pockets, a YKK Vislon zipper and reflective tabs for added invisibility.
The Aero SS is available in sizes XS to 3XL, in white, black, mocha and Belgian blue for $199.99.
