CeramicSpeed’s OSPW System for SRAM Eagle Transmission Features “Active Debris Remover”

CeramicSpeed has introduced the latest version of its Oversized Pulley Wheel (OSPW) X system that’s designed specifically for SRAM’s Eagle Transmission drivetrains, offering a range of improvements in both efficiency and durability.

The new OSPW X system is built upon CeramicSpeed’s cutting-edge “Further Drive” technology, which consists of two key components, the “Active Debris Remover” and the “Alpha Disc”. Unlike traditional oversized pulley wheel systems that primarily focus on reducing drivetrain friction and improving efficiency, CeramicSpeed has taken a different approach with the OSPW X, emphasizing the robustness that SRAM’s Eagle Transmission group is renowned for.

The Active Debris Remover is a unique design that encloses the bearing within a new dust cover, whereby the cover is securely anchored in a groove in the pulley wheel and is accompanied by a bladed groove structure that dynamically extracts debris from the wheel while it rotates. This ensures that external objects are prevented from getting stuck between the spokes of the pulley wheel, further enhancing the overall performance and longevity of the drivetrain.

The second component, the Alpha Disc, is a 20-tooth solid disc pulley wheel with a two-piece construction. It combines a narrow-wide tooth profile made from a composite material, offering extended wear protection and noise reduction, with a solid aluminum disc. This unique construction not only improves the functionality of the pulley wheel but also adds an extra layer of protection.

While CeramicSpeed is known for its aerodynamic OSPW Aero system, the focus of the OSPW X system is primarily on functionality and protection rather than aerodynamics, concentrating on delivering a product that enhances the overall performance and reliability of SRAM’s Eagle Transmission drivetrain.

SRAM’s Eagle Transmission drivetrain, which was first introduced earlier this year, features a direct-mount rear derailleur design that eliminates the need for a derailleur hanger.

CeramicSpeed says the OSPW X requires minimal maintenance, perhaps only 2-3 times per year, depending on riding habits. In the event of bearing function deterioration or the development of an issue that cannot be solved through basic maintenance (stripping, cleaning and re-assembling), CeramicSpeed will replace the pulleys. They also say that if anything happens to the cage while installed on the bike, it would also be covered for replacement.
