Continental Rolls Out Limited-Edition Archetype Tire

To celebrate this year’s Tour de France, Continental has rolled a limited edition tire dubbed the Archetype that was developed in close collaboration with UAE Team Emirates – XRG.

“Designed to push the boundaries of race-day performance, the Archetype takes everything we know about speed and refines it into its purest form. The tire will be in action at the 112th Tour de France, which kicks off in Lille next week. Born from the demands of the most successful team in the UCI World Rankings, the Archetype is built for one purpose… winning. After countless hours of testing, racing, and perfecting, this tire delivers uncompromising performance where it matters most,” says Continental.

“We were asked by UAE Team Emirates – XRG to build a tire that could deliver even faster performance in a 30mm width. That’s a bold challenge — so we went back to the fundamentals,” adssHannah Ferle, Road Product Manager at Continental. “The result is the Archetype: a tire that distills our decades of racing expertise into a pure, purpose-built product. It’s minimal, fast, and made for those who live to compete.”

The Archetype features a 30mm width that’s tubeless-ready and hookless compatible, shedding 35 grams compared to the Grand Prix 5000 S TR, while an ultra-supple carcass ensures maximum responsiveness and comfort under pressure. Also, at the heart of the tire is Continental’s iconic BlackChili compound, reducing rolling resistance while maintaining class-leading grip.

Additionally, further performance comes from LazerGrip, Continental’s signature micro-profile shoulder treatment for confident cornering at speed, along with the German company’s Active Comfort Technology that’s designed to absorb road vibration for a smoother, more controlled ride.

The Archetype sells for $103.90. For full details, visit the Continental website.
