CORE has announced the launch of its new CORE 2 body thermal sensor that’s lighter and sleeker than its predecessor, plus its updated design and improved built-in hardware promise better connectivity with cycling computers and smartwatches, along with future-proof software.
“We are excited to make some of the thermal data and insights used by the top elite athletes in the world more accessible to endurance athletes. We know that heat has a massive impact on performance, and with rising global temperatures it’s more important than ever to bring CORE technology to more athletes. We believe this latest update will profoundly impact how athletes understand and relate to thermal stress,” says Ross McGraw, VP and Global Head of Core.
Elsewhere, CORE 2 features a new snap-together design that both attaches and detaches more easily thanks to a more flexible TPU clip stays, while the ABS sensor can now be removed for charging or cleaning. The sensor also relies on the same proprietary magnetic charging cable, albeit with a USB-C, as well as a new LED indicator light that makes it easier to observe battery status and charging.
Additionally, the CORE 2 retains the same Bluetooth LE and ANT+ connectivity to link to iOS, Android, Garmin and Wahoo devices for real-time data analysis.
The CORE 2 sells for just under $300, which will hit the market in late March 2025. Also, CORE has announced a “Trade-Up Program for Loyal Users”, offering a discounted price for existing CORE 1 owners when they send back their original sensor.
