Chris Froome and Alberto Contador are two of the great cycling legends of recent times. Their legendary battles in the mountains have created a healthy rivalry that has left us with unforgettable moments, and this Monday the duel that marked an era in modern cycling will be revived thanks to virtual cycling, bringing the two legends together in a special race on the BKOOL simulator.
Specifically, the event will take place on Monday, November 25 at 18:30 CET and will have the peculiarity that this time the stars will not be accompanied by their respective professional teams, but hundreds of amateur cyclists will be part of the peloton.
Anyone can take part in this historic group ride from home, using a Smart Bike or a Smart Bike on the BKOOL virtual cycling platform. Participation is completely free thanks to the 30-day trial available at www.bkool.com and is open to everyone.
The event can also be followed live via Instagram LIVE on both riders’ profiles and on BKOOL’s social networks.
The Group Ride will take place on a stage of the Giro d’Italia Virtual 2024 and will mark another milestone in cycling: never before have Chris Froome and Alberto Contador joined forces in the Corsa Rosa.
In the words of Ángel Luis Fernández, Head of Marketing at BKOOL: “This is the most important event in the history of BKOOL and virtual cycling in general. Bringing together two cycling legends of this magnitude, who once had a historic rivalry, pitting them against each other and giving every fan the chance to ride alongside them is something unique.
For Alberto Contador, it is also a very special event: The battles against Chris were always very tough. What surprised me the most were his final attacks, after Sky had worked very hard. I’m delighted that we’re going to meet again, this time at BKOOL.
Chris Froome commented: “It’s great to kickstart the off-season training with some friendly competition on BKOOL, and even better with my old rival Alberto Contador! We recently met up in Miami and he’s still looking in great shape so I have no doubt he won’t be taking it easy on me.”
Just days after Froome announced that this would be his last active season, comes this final dance with what he calls his fiercest rival. Two of the greatest cyclists of all time will go head-to-head at BKOOL and relive an era-defining rivalry.
