Giro Flaunts New Imperial II AS Road Shoe

Giro is flaunting its latest flagship road shoe dubbed the Imperial II AS, which features a new thermo-bonded two-layer construction that combines a warp-knit mesh matted to a thin 0.25mm TPU skin, constructed around a forged carbon-fiber sole that ensures optimal breathability courtesy of laser-perforated venting and increased stability, all-the-while offering a level of weather resistance seldom found in a road-specific shoe.

“The Imperial II AS delivers every feature the fastest racers demand, optimized to perform in cooler temperatures. Secure, micro-adjustability on the fly comes from a BOA Fit System. An all-new one-piece woven TPU monofilament mesh upper locks in power with the highest levels of comfort and modulated breathability, eliminating seams and enhancing performance. A completely new forged carbon fiber outsole plate improves the stiffness by 2Nm while keeping the weight down. An evolution of our signature clean style, the Imperial II AS is in a class of its own,” boasts Giro.

Retention is handled via a pair of Boa Li2 dials that offer incremental micro-adjustability, relying upon textile-style TX6 laces instead of wire systems, resulting in what Giro says is less abrasion on the tongue when tightening.

Additionally, the Imperial II AS features Giro’s SuperNatural Fit Kit, an adjustable arch support system to fine-tune fit.

All in, Giro says the new cycling kicks tip the scales at a feathery 234g per shoe, putting it on par with the lightest of premium road shoes.

Available in black or white, the Imperial II AS sells for a hefty $450.00, which is available in sizes ranging from 36-48, with half sizes in 42.5 to 45.5.
