Hunt has revamped its entry-level wheels, replacing the previous-generation Carbon Aero Disc line-up, with a series of new hoops that feature wider rims and lighter hubs, as well as new profiles of 30mm, 40mm and 50mm.
All wheelsets have been bumped from a 19mm to a 22mm wide internal width, along with a hooked rim design, resulting in an ETRTO that can accommodate tires raning from 25mm to a whopping 50mm.
The wheels are faster too!
Following the results of GST Windkanal testing with a margin of error of +/- 0.3 watts, Hunt says the 50mm variant is a claimed 8 watts faster versus a “standard 25mm deep alloy rim”, and when shod with a 28mm tire, the wheel is just 4 watts slower than “the fastest wheels in the segment”.
Elsewhere, the range is treated to Hunt’s new H_Ratchet 36T SGL hubs, 24 J-bend Pillar PSR spokes front and rear, which feature a slightly thinner profile of 2.0-1.5-2.0mm vs 2.0-1.6-2.0mm, resulting in what the British brand says is “improve compliance”.
Surprisingly, us yanks will be the first to get our hands on a set, with availability coming soon to the UK and European markets.
Here’s how the new wheelsets break down:
