Hutchinson has introduced two new additions to its road and gravel range of tires, the 45mm Caracal Race and the 35mm Challenger Tubeless.
“With both tires designed to meet the growing trend toward wider, higher-volume setups, we continue to lead in tire innovation for performance-driven riders across disciplines—from fast gravel racing to endurance road riding,” says the French brand.
Caracal Race 45mm: The Fastest Gravel Tire, Now Wider
Following critical acclaim and independent verification from Bicycle Rolling Resistance as the world’s fastest gravel tire, the Caracal Race is now available in a 45mm width. Bringing even greater comfort, grip, and control to the fastest gravel courses.
Additionally, engineered for speed and refined for wider internal rim widths, the Caracal Race 45mm retains Hutchinson’s advanced SwiftEasy casing, which eliminates a casing layer at the centre tread for enhanced flexibility and a 40% reduction in rolling resistance compared to earlier semi-slick designs, while the race-proven Mach Tread 3.0 compound, originally developed for road racing, remains central to the Caracal’s performance.
“With 25% greater rebound and 10% higher tear resistance, this compound returns more energy to the rider and withstands the harsh demands of off-road competition. The new wider 45mm Caracal Race takes the world’s fastest gravel tire to new levels, with the capability to take on more technical routes and races, it’s ready to bring unseen levels of speed to riders’ gravel adventures,” boasts Hutchison.
The Caracal Race is available in both Black and Tan Wall versions and costs €59,99 / £54.99
Challenger Tubeless 35mm: Ultra-Endurance Confidence, Now All-Road Ready
Known for its unmatched 10,000km lifespan and ultra-endurance credentials, the Challenger Tubeless is now available in a larger 35mm width, catering to riders seeking enhanced comfort and control across more varied terrain.
Built around a supple 127 TPI carcass and fast-rolling Endurance Bi-Compound, the tire offers surefooted grip in all conditions. But it’s the tire’s HARDSHIELD dual-layer protection that truly sets it apart – combining a wide polyamide belt and a targeted aramid layer at the contact patch.
“In laboratory testing, the Challenger Tubeless withstood puncture forces of up to 170 Newtons, more than double that of many competitor tires. Field-tested in the Transcontinental Race, it has proven itself across thousands of kilometers, puncture-free,” explains Hutchinson.
The tire also incorporates AIRSHIELD technology, a flexible butyl layer that forms a fully airtight internal structure, solving one of the longest-standing frustrations with tubeless tires – air loss.
The result is a fit and forget tire that offers a huge lifespan and even greater peace of mind. Ready to take on ultra-endurance racing or the demands of an entire winter training season and beyond, the new 35mm Challenger Tubeless ensures riders can access unmatched levels of both comfort and security.
The Challenger Tubeless is available in 28, 32 and 35mm sizes and costs €62,99 / £54.99
Sylvie Woroniecki, Hutchinson Global Communications and Brand Manager: “As riders continue to push boundaries across both gravel and road disciplines, they’re demanding tires that offer more volume, versatility, and resilience. The new 45mm Caracal Race and 35mm Challenger Tubeless reflect Hutchinson’s commitment to performance without compromise.”
Both tires are tubeless-ready, designed for compatibility with today’s wider internal rim widths, and available now through Hutchinson dealers worldwide.
