Sports eyewear newcomer ILEVE DISTRICT is launching its fourth eyewear model called the N°4, which was developed in collaboration with four-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Fabian Cancellara and is the first cycling glasses to result from the partnership between the Bernese start-up and the former Swiss pro rider.
“The N°4 is a particularly sporty model and addresses the needs of ambitious cyclists. The design with its patented click-in technology is minimalist as usual and is part of our sustainably produced eyewear collection,” boasts the Swiss brand.
In February of this year, ILEVE DISTRICT announced its collaboration with Sette Sports, which is owned by Cancellara, aligning to Swiss companies that are dedicated to bringing premium cycling products to market.
“As a professional cyclist, Fabian knows exactly what is important in cycling glasses. His expertise had a decisive influence on the development of our model N°4,” says Simon Krähenbühl, Co-Founder and Head of Design & Development at ILEVE DISTRICT.
Cancellara says about the collaboration, “short communication paths and an exchange at eye level are important to me. Together with the team, I was involved in the development of the glasses from the very beginning. We didn’t settle for the first best solution and constantly developed the product in an iterative process.”
With the curved frame in base curve 6, the eyes are well enclosed and effectively protected from sunlight, wind, and dust, while the shield lens provides unrestricted vision. The tint of the category 2 lens enhances contrast and is suitable for a wide range of weather and light conditions. Also, a secure fit is guaranteed by the screw-less click-in hinge, adjustable temples and nose pad with no silicone inserts. N°4 model is available in two designs: half-frame and full-frame. Weighing only 25 grams for the half- frame and 26 grams for the full-frame model, these glasses are among the lightest available, offering a high level of wearing comfort. They come in two sizes to accommodate different face shapes and fits.
Sustainably Manufactured in Switzerland
The sports glasses from ILEVE DISTRICT are 3D printed in Appenzell and assembled by hand in the company’s own workshop in Berne. Thanks to the innovative manufacturing process, the frames can be 100 % manufactured in Switzerland. With print-on-demand technology, the production quantity can be precisely controlled, ensuring no surplus products. The design of the glasses is modular, allowing for easy replacement of spare parts and professional recycling of materials.
The N°4 cycling glasses are available in the company’s own online shop at www.ileve-district.com and at selected cycling stores and opticians at a price of CHF 287 (EURO 269). The special edition with the 3D-printed SPARTACUS lettering in the left temple and the case signed by Cancellara is limited to 40 pieces and is available exclusively in the online shop.
