Lapierre has launched its all-new gravel bike dubbed the Crosshill CF, the first carbon fiber offering from the French brand since entering the gravel segment back in 2016.
Borrowing heavily from its ProRace CF carbon XC hardtail mountain bike, the Crosshill CF incorporates Lapierre ‘s Flexstays concept, featuring curved seatstays that form a radical seattube cluster that’s designed to create “flex” in order to reduce unwanted feedback from the terrain.
“By dislocating the seatstays from the seat tube to improve their flexibility over a longer length and disperse vibrations and other shocks through the top tube instead of directly to the seat tube,” explains Lapierre.
Other features that punctuate the Crosshill CF include full integrated cable routing through the headset, 1x or 2x drivetrain compatibility with a removable front derailleur mount, a Universal Derailleur Hanger that’s compatible with all rear derailleurs, 12mm thru-axles with flat mount disc brakes and a BB86 PressFit bottom bracket.
“Adventure is written in the DNA of the Crosshill CF, but not only. Technology too. Starting with 3D Tubular, visible at the seatpost/top tube insertion which relieves discomfort and breaks the codes of long-distance rides. With a more aggressive geometry while retaining good vertical flexibility and good front-end manoeuvrability, this bike outwits technical terrain and even more so the “sandboxes” regularly encountered in gravel. Looking like a level-headed warrior when moving at high speed, the Crosshill CF has space for panniers (not supplier) and mudguards. “The gravel mindset” is perfectly represented by the semi-integrated cockpit, which features a 12° flare and a more pronounced rise for greater stability. It’s already an epic bike!,” boasts Lapierre.
All in, Lapierre says the Crosshill CF frame tips the scales at 1000 grams, with enough clearance to accommodate 45mm tires.
Offered in six frame sizes, the Crosshill CF is available in a number of builds, with prices starting at 2800€ for the Crosshill CF 5.0 that’s equipped with a Shimano GRX 2×12 drivetrain and Lapierre’s own branded aluminum wheels, up to the range-topping Crosshill CF8.0 S that’s fitted with a SRAM Force AXS groupset, DT Swiss GRC1600 wheelset and a RockShox Rudy Ultimate suspension fork with 30mm of travel and lockout for 7000€.
