New T Line Electric is Brompton’s Lightest Folding eBike to Date

Brompton’s new T Line Electric is its lightest folding eBike to date, tipping the scales at a claimed weight of 14.1kg (31 pounds), which features the British brand’s lightweight 250W e-Motiq rear-hub motor and detachable 345W battery.

However, what really gives the T Line Electric such an impressive weight is its titanium construction and carbon fork, something that was only found on the company’s non-assisted folding bikes.

“Our new Brompton Electric range is our answer to the evolving way we live and move. We’ve kept everything people love about Brompton – the portability, the engineering, the joy of the ride – and added the intelligence and lightness to make it easier, smarter, and even more fun,” boasts Will Carleysmith, Brompton’s chief design and engineering officer.

Brompton says the T Line Electric has a range of up to 90km (56 miles), while the e-Motiq motor has the ability to learn and adapt to the rider’s pedaling style during the first 100km (62 miles), making changes every 6km to fine-tune and “personalize” the system. Moreover, it also uses this data to make accurate predictions of the available range via the Brompton Electric app, which also supports over-the-air firmware updates, as well as offers a Start Assist mode for speedy acceleration from stops and to give an extra boost for steeper hills.

Additionally, there’s also a Walk Assist mode to help riders move the bike around more easily when they’re on foot, which will run the motor at speeds of up to 6km/h.

The T Line Electric is available for pre-orders via Brompton’s site starting on October 21 for £5,799 / €6,799 / $TBA. Afterwards, bikes can be purchased from its 1,500 authorized retailers beginning October 28.
