Pirelli has announced the latest version of its P ZERO Race RS tire, a “tubed” version that bucks the trend of tubeless-ready tires and returns to the basics of a traditional clincher.
Like all the tires made by Pirelli from June 2024 onward, the P Zero Race RS uses natural rubber that’s FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council – an NGO that is recognized worldwide for its responsible forest management activities).
“Designed and developed specifically for the many fans who constantly seek the high-performance levels, practicality and lightness provided by clincher tires, this newest version also benefits from the positive feedback of some of today’s top cyclists. Riders from the Alpecin-Deceuninck and Lidl-Trek World Tour teams, have had the chance to test them during training camps or to compete with them on some Alpine stages of the past season’s great Tours,” says Pirelli.
Additionally, Pirelli developed the new P ZERO Race RS specifically to be used with its light, high-performing SmarTUBE inner tube, aiming to provide cyclists with a setup that offers a significant weight advantage, saving nearly 50g per wheel without compromising rolling efficiency.
NEW-GENERATION SMARTEVO COMPOUND
P ZERO Race RS also uses Pirelli’s SmartEVO2 compound in its formula, providing a polymer compound that not only chemically enhances the tire’s polymeric composition, but also offers improved traction and reduced rolling resistance.
P ZERO Race RS weighs in at 230 grams in a size 700×28, which is also available in 700×26 and 700×30-622, with either Standard, Classic or Retro sidewalls for 80€.
