POC is targeting enhanced visibility with the launch of its new Omne Beacon helmet, giving urban cyclists a greater sense of safety thanks to an integrated, rechargeable LED taillight that offers three modes of flashing.
The light itself features four bright LEDs that can reach an output of 32 lumens in the brightest Vivid mode, while the Steady mode dials back the lumens to 24 lumens, resulting in longer runtimes.
According to POC, Vivid mode can provide up to 13 hours of illumination at max setting, with Steady delivering 17 hours. When in Blinging mode, riders can expect as much as 32 hours, while recharging via a SUB-C cable brings the light back to full capacity in about 4 hours.
Elsewhere, the Omne Beacon comprises a polycarbonate shell and a MIPS Integra system for optimal rotational impact protection, along with POC’s 360° dial retention system for a secure and comfortable fit. Moreover, the new lid is certified to EN 1078, CPSC 1203 & AS/NZS 2063 safety standards, while the electronics are IP55 rated and meet CE certifications.
The Omne Beacon sells for $240, which is available in three sizes and three colorways that all come with POC’s AVIP Fluorescent Orange tail section with reflective detailing.
