Pro Enters the 3D Printed Saddle Segment with New Stealth 3D

Following extensive body-mapping data and feedback from riders, Pro has entered the 3D-printed saddle segment with the launched of its new Stealth 3D, featuring three different-density mesh zones to ensure optimal comfort and positioning.

“Comfort is key to cycling performance. Establishing the optimum position for yourself on the bike will empower you to ride further and faster by increasing your comfort and efficiency. Finding the right saddle for your unique anatomical features and riding style is a crucial part of achieving a good bike fit. The PRO Stealth 3D Saddle offers riders the benefits of increased comfort through 3 Mesh Zones of 3 distinct densities, while also encouraging the same aerodynamic position on the bike that you have come to expect our Stealth Saddle range,” boasts Pro.

As mentioned, the Stealth 3D saddle was developed with pressure mapping data from bike fitments and rider feedback, which features a high-density front, a lower-density middle and a low-density rear. The high-density padding on the nose of the saddle is designed to offer the maximum support for the sit bones as riders lean forward into an aggressive position, while the lower-density middle dissipates the rider’s weight across a larger area of the saddle when riding in a more upright position, and in so doing reduces the risk of developing hot spots from focused contact points on the saddle. Moreover, the low-density rear reduces the overall weight of the saddle, as riders do not usually make contact with the rear of the saddle while pedaling. It also complements the overall aesthetics of the saddle, resulting in what Pro describes as a design that “suggests speed, purpose and comfort”.

Additionally, the low-density padding also offers an insight into the hexagonal cell design, which is utilized in a tighter and higher density throughout the saddle’s middle (lower-density) and nose (high-density) Mesh Zones. From there, comfort is further boosted by fine-tuning the density zones with this hexagonal cell design. These cells absorb vibrations individually and collectively, reducing road buzz and thus rider fatigue. Also, the 3D printed EPU padding also features a dimpled upper to help lock riders in place on the saddle and allow for efficient pedaling, even during all-out seated efforts.

“The Stealth 3D Saddle incorporates advanced manufacturing techniques with extensive research and development into rider comfort,” PRO’s Saddle Design Project Lead, Anton Peeters, said. “The 3D printing process allows us to fine-tune the density in a way that is not possible when using conventional lightweight EV or PU padding. The three distinct Mesh Zones provide increased comfort in aerodynamic or upright positions, while also reducing the overall saddle weight with the low-density back.”

“All PRO products are developed to meet a particular rider need,” Peeters continued. “Our research and conversations with riders showed that while many riders find the PRO Stealth Saddles comfortable, some would make a weight sacrifice for increased comfort. The PRO Stealth 3D Saddles will be best suited for those riders, particularly those who race across cobbles or ride on poorly maintained asphalt roads.”

Available in Team and Performance versions, the Stealth 3D Saddle allows for a choice between carbon (Team) or INOX stainless steel (Performance) rails, as well as options for 142 or 152 millimeter widths.
