Rapha Lets You Beat the Heat with New Ghost Range of Apparel

When the mercury really starts to spike, Rapha says its has prefect solution to beat the heat with its latest Ghost range of apparel, featuring what the British brand claims is “the most advanced thermoregulation that’s designed to cool the body, engine and mind thanks to an evolution in breathability.”

“We developed the Ghost range with advanced textiles and construction techniques that aid cooling. The idea is to keep riders as comfortable as possible and provide a competitive advantage. Our product team trialled a range of prototype material technologies on athletes in the climate chamber. Performing FTP tests within a 48°C heat index, using one of our existing jerseys as the benchmark, the materials team settled on a fabric that not only increased heat loss and airflow, but also felt lighter to the wearer,” adds Rapha.

Featuring an open weave structure and advanced elastomer yarn, the fabric is designed to stretch with minimal force, enabling it to move with the body in a natural way while also maintaining optimal airflow, even in the wet.

Additionally, Rapha also reduced the number of panels to increase comfort. For instance, the upper section of the skinsuit is made from just one piece of fabric, while the seams and darts are reverse stitched in order to reduce irritation

“The way that we’ve created the second skin feeling is to have an even distribution throughout. We’ve equalized the whole thing to sit the same everywhere. This makes it feel lighter, more intuitive. In fact, you don’t really feel it’s on,” explains Rapha’s Sam Towner.

The range consists of the Pro Team Ghost Jersey, Pro Team Ghost Bib Shorts and Pro Team Ghost Suit, which sell for $300, $325 and $600, respectively.
