Inspired by the rugged terrain of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Santini is celebrating this year’s La Doyenne with a special edition kit that includes both men’s and women’s jerseys, jackets, base layers, gloves, caps and other accessories.
Organized in 1892, Liège-Bastogne-Liège is the oldest of the five Monuments of Cycling, which as seen the top riders of the peloton traverse the the Walloon region of Belgium, taking in its stunning, magical landscape with gorgeous forests as its backdrop.
“We chose the green of the forests the race runs through as the colour for the line – says Santini’s Creative Director Fergus Niland – Specifically, wood green for the men’s and petrol green for the women’s kits.”
Aside from the various shades of green, a stylized mountain range motif also references the 11 Côtes de Liege – the merciless “walls” that strike terror in the hearts of even the most hardened riders.
The men’s line comprises a jersey, bib shorts, technical t-shirt and base layer, while the women’s range is the same aside from the choice of standard shorts over bibs.
The jacket is made from Polartec Power Shield Pro, a waterproof fabric (5,000mm rating) that’s also light and breathable, while the accessories coordinate with the rest of the collection.
The new Liège-Bastogne-Liège collection is the result of agreements signed between Santini and A.S.O. to further deepen a partnership that also spans the supply of the leader jerseys for the Tour de France and capsule collections for all of the other races on the A.S.O. circuit.
The collection is available from www.santinicycling.com, as well as from select Santini retailers worldwide.
