SRAM’s new GX AXS T-Type upgrade kit makes the switch from mechanical to electronic shifting easy for current owners with Eagle 90 or Eagle 70 drivetrains by simply swapping out a few rear derailleur parts.
According to SRAM, all it takes is adding the GX AXS-enabled derailleur body, along with its AXS battery charger and AXS Pod Controller, and voi·là one has electronic shifting. Of course, one also has to remove the mechanical shift cable and housing in exchange for the AXS Pod.
Additionally, while the kit contains everything that’s needed to make the switch to wireless, note that the setup key, knurled ring, bushing, and mount bolt are not included, so owners will have to use their existing fittings.
Not surprisingly, all of this comes with a hefty price, to the tune of $550. But that’s a far cry from flipping the bill for a new electronic groupset.
