Tom Boonen (Etixx-QuickStep) crashed out of this year’s Abu Dhabi Tour today, after making contacted with Theo Bos and Jim Songezo (MTN-Qhubeka) during today’s first intermediate sprint – after 55 kilometers of racing.
The Belgian rider was seen laying on the ground with his legs entangled in his bike for several minutes, while race doctors assessed his injuries.
Boonen was subsequently taken away by ambulance for further examination at a local hospital.
