Van Rysel Premieres New RCR and D500 Smart Trainers

Now that Jack Frost is starting to rear his head, cyclists are retreating indoors for their workouts, perfect timing for Van Rysel to premiere its newest RCR and D500 smart trainers.

As one would expect from an upper level trainer, the RCR features both Bluetooth and ANT+ protocols with an accuracy of +/- 1%, a USB charging port, a motor driven freewheel for descents, a maximum power output of 2,800 watts and the ability to simulate gradients up to 27%. But, perhaps, the most important standout feature of the RCR is an Ethernet port that allows the trainer to be hard-wired to a local network or connected directly to a smart device.

Oddly, though, there’s no WiFi connectively.

Elsewhere, the RCR benefits from sturdy folding legs and a handle, along with a Zwift Cog and Click V2 set, making the trainer “Zwift ready”.

As for the D500, it also includes the Zwift Cog and Click V2 bundle, along with Bluetooth and ANT+ connectively.

However, the power output is capped at 1,500 watts and the D500 can only replicate 15% gradients, while the accuracy is slightly less at +/- 2.5%.

Additionally, the trainer also lacks WiFi and the Ethernet port that’s found on its more expensive sibling.

The RCR sells for €798.99, while the D500 fetches €399.99.
