In her decade plus of professional cyclocross racing, Helen Wyman has established herself as a lightning rod for the pedaling experience. Approachable, thoughtful and driven, Helen has gained a reputation as a spokesperson for the top ranks of cyclocross.
A nine-time British National Champion, the World Cup competitor makes forays into U.S. cross events, lends insights through clinics and has amassed a level of precision with cyclocross few ever reach. Helen’s technical ability, her approachable nature and her inclination to look at cycling with a clear view towards equality inspired the forthcoming Velocio x Helen Wyman collaboration.
“Cyclocross is a very unique sport with specific clothing needs for all competitors from Elite racers to weekend warriors,” Helen explained. “After traveling the world for many years seeing just about all this sport can throw at you, I felt ready to put my stamp onto a specific range of clothing. I wanted to do this with the correct partner and when I started speaking with Velocio I knew they were right for this project. Over the coming season we will release a range of Signature clothes. These are pieces that capture my experience and pair with Velocio’s eye for design and detail. ”
The Helen Wyman Range includes pieces designed from the ground, as well as items refined with Helen’s input. The result is a versatile collection in time for the cyclocross season.
“You really can’t find someone with a better understanding and the ability to articulate the needs of the most demanding cyclists,” explained Velocio co-founder, Brad Sheehan. “Helen has a clear sense of what she’s looking for in this clothing and the process of creating it has been rewarding. We partnered with Polartec, the leader in outdoor fabrics to develop some key cold weather pieces in this collection. The performance of the early pieces has been phenomenal.”
Helen agreed, “It’s been an exciting process with both design and development. The quality of Velocio clothing is so good and the comfort is unrivaled; it’s very clear that every detail is looked at: these clothes are really custom clothes, available to everyone.”
