Enthusiasts with a keen eye may have spotted Vision’s new Metron RS wheelsets being ridden under the auspices of Team Bahrain Victorious during last week’s Paris – Nice, but whatever the case may be, the new hoops officially broke cover today.
Offered in rim depths of 45mm and 60mm, the Metron RS features all-new UD carbon molded aero-bladed spokes that are fully serviceable courtesy of aluminum heads that interface with the hookless, tubeless-ready rims and hub, while the internal width has been increased to 23mm, making way for tires as hefty as 32mm. Also, the wheels continue to feature molded-in (not drilled) spoke holes, ensuring optimal strength and durability.
Elsewhere, the Metron RS is treated to Vision’s new V-1000 PRS ratchet-style hub with 72-tooth engagement. Moreover, the new hub design is simpler, requiring no tools to maintain or replace the ratchets, while things spin on full-ceramic bearings for reduced drag.
All in, Visions says the new Metron RS tips the scales at 100 grams less than the previous Metron SL, while the 45mm and 60mm variants claim to cheat the wind by 9% and 6%, respectively, over their outgoing counterparts.
The new Metron RS sells for $2900 for the 45mm version, while the deeper 60mm fetches $3000.
