Vittoria has spun up not only a new range of gravel-specific tires, but a new “Gravel Terrain Score” index to help customers select the best option based on riding conditions, breaking choices down into five categories, Hardpack, Fine Loose, Mixed, Coarse Loose and Mud.
“Riders can now simply look at the terrain they’ll face and trace down to the tire that fits,” says Stijn Vriends, Vittoria’s Chairman and CEO. “It’s about simplifying choices so gravel cyclists spend less time guessing and more time riding.”
The Gravel Terrain Score indexes tires from 0 to 100, with 0 essentially being pavement and 100 referring to the most demanding terrain like bikepacking.
As a result, Vittoria’s long-standing models, the Terreno Zero, Terreno Dry, Terreno Mix and Mezcal, have become T10, T30, T50 and T70.
In the case of the T50, it’s an all-new tire, featuring a directional tread pattern that’s aimed at balancing out both challenging, loose terrain and fast-rolling hardpack.
Additionally, Vittoria has also updated its Air-Liner Light Gravel insert to include a new 37–40mm size to fill in where the current 42–50mm leaves off, offering more puncture protection over the previous Air-Liner Light XC.
