Team Belkin wrapped up the 2013 Tour of Hainan with complete domination today. Theo Bos won the 9th and final stage of this year’s race. Today’s victory not only marked Bos’ 6th stage win, but secured the overall tittle for Moreno Hofland.
As usual, Belkin was in complete control when the peloton raced toward the finish line in Chengmai. With the overall win already secured, Hofland was working as the final lead-out man for Bos. However, those plans were almost destroyed when a massive crash brought down team riders Jos Van Emden and Tom Leezer 500 meters from the finish.
Hofland and Bos managed to avoid the wreck, with Bos in perfect position to hold off Rico Rogers and Michael Kurth in the final few hundred meters. Hofland crossed the line in 11th position – with the overall victory in-hand.
