Organizers for the 5th edition Tour of Oman unveiled this year’s route today, along with the 18 teams that will participate.
The 2014 route will feature one summit finish, two medium mountain stages and three sprint stages.
On the second to last day, riders will face the summit finish of Jabal Al Akhdhar climb.
In addition, sprinters will be treated to another flat stage on day two.
The defending Team Sky, along with 12 other WorldTour teams will be returning to this year’s event. The Giant-Shimano isn’t scheduled to take part, however, in their absence – the Belkin and Lotto-Belisol squads will be taking part.
Five Pro Continental teams are also on the list, including the first time American squad – UnitedHealthcare.
Last year’s race was won by Chris Froome, ahead of Alberto Contador and Cadel Evans.
