

Ellen van Dijk (Boels Dolmans) claimed stage 2 in this year’s Ladies Tour of Qatar today, after powering her way clear of a six-woman lead group, to beat Trixi Worrack (Velocio-SRAM) by 3 seconds.
Meanwhile, her teammate, Lizzi Armitstead, claimed 3rd s[ot on the podium, with Chloe Hosking, Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle Honda) and Emma Johansson (Orica-AIS) rounded out the lead group.
The rest of the peloton finished at almost two minutes behind.
Race Highlights
The six-rider breakaway group, managed to ride clear of the peloton during the final 20 kilometers. And, from there, the escapees quickly built up a one minute advatange over the field, that would later double on the run-in to the finish.
As a result of her victory today, Van Dijk took over the overall race lead – 4 seconds ahead of her closest rival – Trixie Worrack.
